Traveling Around Guyana

Access Guyana

There are three main modes of transportation: taxi-car/minibus, Ferry & Charter Planes.

To travel from the main airport to the city, Georgetown, you will be mostly dependent on taxis and mini bus services. These services operate throughout Guyana.  Rates vary and you should check in advance before you travel.

To get from one county to the other, ferries transport travelers in their vehicles. There are also two major bridges: The Berbice bridge connects Berbice and Demerara and the Demerara Harbor Bridge (the 4th longest floating bridge in the world) connects West Bank Demerara to East Bank Demerara.

To travel to the Interior/Hinterland of Guyana, other than the waterway, Air travel is also available. Flight services are available via Ogle Airport on the East Coast of Demerara and from Cheddi Jagan International Airport at Timehri
