Georgetown is the capital of Guyana and along the Atlantic coastline. It is located on Guyana’s Atlantic coast on the east bank of Demerara River which originates from the Atlantic Ocean. The terrain flat coastal plains, unlike the hilly Interior.The City is below sea level and is at a low elevation but its protected by its popular retaining wall known as the seawall to keep the water of the Atlantic ocean out. A visit on its seawall is amazing for its spectacular view. Georgetown offers lots of cultural diversity with its people, music, food and colonial style building. When in Georgetown you can visit the historical Stabroke market, Bourda cricket ground, St Georges Cathedral, Botanic Garden and many historical sites.
